Snow Plow version 0.0.10
New features:
- Introduced music in menu and loading screens.
- Overhauled the snow system, added new behaviours with physics, effects and physical, breakable windrows.
- Added the following sounds:
- Backup alarm
- Fan
- Hydraulics (replaced)
- Door
- Air brakes and air parking brake
- Blade impact and scrape sound
- Walking/Running in snow
- Tires crunching in snow
- Introduced new textures with wear, rust and dirt.
- Added details to the garage (doors, lights, etc).
- Overhauled textures for both trucks with wear, rust and dirt effects.
Changes:
- Major rewrite of the game manager, everything regarding scenes management and world loading, as well as loading screens.
- Adjusted render color filter and effects for desired ambiance.
- Removed the ability to choose vehicle color in sandbox, as this feature will be implemented in career mode with the possibility to configure truck and choose color for each element and attachable equipment. Having one color selection for everything was incompatible with the developement of the customization features.
- Adjusted and enhanced environment lighting and shadows.
- Removed the lower-end graphic settings, leaving 4 settings now, from Low to Ultra.
Known bugs:
- Sky could be black for a split-second when embarking a vehicle. This is the time the vehicle’s camera takes to come alive and generate the proper sky render. Will get fixed in a futur version.
Snow Plow version 0.0.9
New features:
- Changed UI interface style.
- Added hydraulics sounds.
- Added aesthetics details to the vehicles.
- Added “plow height above surface” display.
- Changed the garage for a new model with interior.
- Grader front wheel mechanism now have full animation for direction and lean.
- Vehicle camera now moves to avoid collisions with surrounding geometry.
- New in-game menu, featuring standard “Return”, “Main menu”, and “Quit to desktop” buttons, as well as a “Sandbox settings” tab and a “performance report” tab. More options to come.
Changes:
- Cleaned up vehicles geometry to improve performance.
- Made a first optimisation job to improve performance.
- Tweaked vehicles’ engine, transmission and suspension data to add realism.
- Added a fade transition between levels of details (LOD).
- Changed vehicles’ handbrakes for parking brakes, which now apply to all wheels.
- Changed the generic vehicle color picker for a customized palette.
- Added proper behavior to the vehicles’ lights with precipitations and volumetric fog.
Fixed bugs:
- Fixed snow accumulation speed to match the precipitation rate.
- Wheels should now react less violently when hitting obstacles.
- Engine sounds now come from the engine’s position.
- Overhauled props geometry and physics.
Known bugs:
- Snow doesn’t have physics yet, therefore:
- Trucks encounter no resistance when hitting of plowing snow. Snow doesn’t pile up, but there is a windrow effect.
- Windrows will form whenever plowing, even if there is no snow on the ground.
- Physics will be added in a future update after technical limitations have been resolved.
- Colored lights hitting a colored surface could give odd results.
- Sky could be black for a split-second when embarking a vehicle. This is the time the vehicle’s camera takes to come alive and generate a proper sky render. Will get fixed in a futur version.
- Lower graphic settings can give weird lighting results (Very low, low and medium).
Snow Plow version 0.0.8
New features:
- Truck and grader now have wing work lights.
- Snow now accumulates, and accumulation speed is a factor of precipitation intensity.
- New speed limiter: hitting LShift will activate the speed limiter which will cap to a suitable speed for work, depending on the type of vehicle. Speed meter will turn red to confirm the engagement.
- Added an engine stop sound for both vehicles.
- On first boot, graphics initially load at Ultra and an options menu prompts automatically, offering to change the settings.
- Added ambiance sounds to the menu.
Fixed bugs:
- Grader front wheels now lean as expected.
- Fixed display issue on “Very Low” graphic settings.
- Fixed the snow that was impossible to plow in front of the garage.
- National park parking sign now has collider and level of details (LOD).
Known bugs:
- Snow doesn’t have physics, therefore:
- Trucks encounter no resistance when hitting of plowing snow.
- Snow doesn’t pile up, but there is a windrow effect.
- Windrows will form whenever plowing, even if there is no snow on the ground.
- Physics will be added in a future update after technical limitations have been resolved.
- Game is abnormally ressource-intensive. No optimization work have been done yet.
- Wheel colliders could overreact when hitting other colliders, causing the trucks to jump.
- Colored lights results on a colored surface could be odd.
